ACEH TENGGARA, 23 May 2008 - Regional police in Aceh Tenggara, in the northernmost province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam or Aceh, have again found fields full of marijuana plants which were ready to be harvested. A total of four hectares has been fount. The head of the operational department of the regional police, Bidik S. said that the police are continuing to hold raids through the mountainous regions of the province to fight against marijuana and to secure the found locations.
The tens of thousands of marijuana plants have been found by the police in a protected forest in the village of Suka Rimbun, subdistrict Ketambe. The police came into action after they had received information from people nearby. When they arrived at the location the police directly started demolishing the fields so the plants could be burned directly afterwards. The plants were about six months of age. Some of them were brought to the regional police station as evidence. Until this moment there is no clue to who might be the owner of the fields with marijuana plants.
