JAKARTA, 24 September 2007 - An Indonesian Islamic militant serving 20 years in prison for plotting a deadly cafe explosion in 2004 has escaped from jail in South Sulawesi province, an official of the prison said on Monday. Jasmin Bin Kasau used a rope to climb a wall of Guning Sari prison on last Friday night after a mass prayer, the official named only Rusdini said.

Bin Kasau and other Islamic militants were found guilty of implicating in the car bombing in 2004 in the province and the sectarian clashes between Muslims and Christians from 2000 to 2001 that killed over 1,000 people. Four people were killed and scores others were injured in the deadly cafe blast in Palopo town of the province in 2004. "Kasau escaped on last Friday evening," Rusdini told in a telephone interview from the province.

Indonesia has sentences more than 100 Islamic militants implicating with several major bombings and sectarian clashes since 2000.
