JAKARTA, 21 July 2007 - There is conflicting information from Indonesia about the plans of building a nuclear power plant. Vice-President Yusuf Kalla has said that there are are no actual plans to build a nuclear power plant to spur economic growth.
Kalla says that there indeed have been discussions with scientists, but there is no time line to when a plant is to be developed. However, Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said that Indonesia is determined to build and operate a nuclear power plant in Central Java by the year 2017.
