JAKARTA, 08 September 2006 - Two people were killed after a garbage dump they were sifting through collapsed on them near the Indonesian capital, a police official said on Friday. Media reports said 22 others may be missing. "Two people were killed and three were injured," police official Cecep Triosaputro said by telephone. "They were sifting through garbage."
The collapse happened in the Bantar Gebang area of Bekasi, east of Jakarta, early on Friday and police were searching for other possible victims, the official said. He said it was unclear if there were other fatalities. "I have no idea. (We) are still searching" Jakarta's El Shinta radio and the Metro television network said that 22 might be missing.
