JAARTA, 20 July 2006 - Timor Leste's new prime minister, Jose Ramos Horta, will possibly visit Indonesia at the end of this week, Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said on Thursday. "We are trying to fix a mutually agreeable time and this will possibly be the end of this week," Antara news agency on Thursday quoted the foreign minister as saying after a meeting with the President at the State Palace.

Wirajuda did not specifically mention when Horta would arrive in Jakarta but said the new chief of the Timor Leste government would possibly be received by President Yudhoyono on Saturday, or Sunday. Apart from visiting Jakarta, Horta would also go to Malaysia to attend an ASEAN Ministerial Meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur next week, said Wirajuda.

Wirajuda said both leaders had no special agenda of discussion because Horta's visit would more or less be of symbolic significance. "Basically, he (Horta) will make his (first) official overseas trip to Indonesia as prime minister to show the closeness of Timor Leste to Indonesia," the foreign minister said. Horta was elected as Timor Leste's prime minister on July 10, 2006.
