JAKARTA, 14 May 2006 - Eleven workers have been found after being buried alive while excavating a sand pit in Bandung regency, a police official said Sunday. Rescuers found all 11 men buried dead in the landslide occurred on Saturday in Nyalindung village, Cipatat district in West Java, said Comr. Asep Ahdiatna, a local police deputy chief.

The men were taken by their families, mostly live at Nyalindung village, late Saturday, Ahdiatna said, after hundreds of rescuers and local villagers searched them, buried in the sand pit under tons of mud and debris that cascaded down the hill. The police could not provide any information that triggered the slide, Ahdiatna said.
