LONDON (UK), 08 May 2006 - According to an AFP report, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is to visit Indonesia Tuesday for bilateral talks ahead of a summit of eight large Muslim countries in Bali, Iranian Foreign Ministry said. "Dr. Ahmadinejad is going to visit Indonesia on Tuesday at the invitation of his counterpart (President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono). Bilateral issues and political, economic and cultural issues are going to be discussed," ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.
"He is also going to attend a D8 meeting in Bali, where he is going to hold bilateral meetings with the participants," Asefi added. Iran, OPEC's number two producer, is considering investing $600 mln in boosting fellow cartel member Indonesia's own flagging oil and gas output, the foreign ministry in Jakarta said late last month.
Ahmadinejad is among four foreign leaders who are due to attend a two-day summit of the Developing-8 (D8) group of large Muslim countries which opens in the Indonesian resort island of Bali on Friday.
