JAKARTA, 03 August 2005 - Eight officers from the East Jakarta Police were arrested for sexually harassing sex workers. City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said the incident occurred on July 25 when some 20 police officers were involved in a raid in the Boker red-light district in East Jakarta.

He said that during the raid, police arrested three women and one man. Two of the women were later identified as sex workers. According to Tjiptono, a number of police officers groped the two women inside the police truck that transported them from the red-light district to the police station. Tjiptono, however, denied the officers raped the women.
