JAKARTA, 29 July 2004 - Indonesia won't charge the cleric Abu Bakar Bashir in connection with the Oct. 12, 2002, bombings in Bali that killed 202 people, the Associated Press reported today, citing Detective Chief Suyitno Landung.
The decision comes after the nation's constitutional court restricted the use of a new anti-terrorism law, AP said. Prosecutors still plan to charge Bashir with leading Jemaah Islamiyah, a terrorist group linked to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, the agency reported.
