JAKARTA, 27 July 2004 - The US and Indonesian governments have signed an open-skies agreement that removes restrictions on the frequency of air transport services between the two countries. The agreement was signed Monday in Bali by US Communications Minister Norman Y Mineta and ad interim Communications Minister Soenarno.
The agreement creates an open market for air transport service between the two countries and will facilitate expansion of bilateral trade and cooperation in tourism and investment sectors, Mineta said. Meanwhile, the US Trade and Development Agency extended grant and technical aid valued at US$187,500 (Rp1.7 billion) for a number of aviation projects in the country.
