JAKARTA, 16 May 2004 - Indonesia's state-owned Telkom has signed a contract to build an undersea telecommunications cable link to Malaysia. The Jakarta Post reports Telkom signed the contract on Friday with a consortium comprising Telekom Malaysia Berhad and NEC Corporation. The cable will run for 160 kilometres between Dumai in Indonesia's Riau province and Melaka, Malaysia.
