JAKARTA, 08 September 2003 - The U.S.-franchised JW Marriott hotel reopened here Monday almost five weeks after a car bomb killed 12 people and injured almost 150. "There was no special ceremony but this morning, around eight, there were already several guests breakfasting at our Sailendra restaurant," said spokeswoman Melanie Solagratia.
She said work had gone on non-stop since a few days after the August 5 blast to repair the damage from the bomb, which shattered the lobby and the adjoining restaurant and broke windows on more than a dozen floors. "Praise the lord, the repair work has been completed on time," she said. The hotel has declined to say how much the repairs cost.
At least 10 suspects are in custody for the Marriott bombing, olice say. They are seeking other suspects including two Malaysians, Noordin Muhammad Top and Azahari, both of whom are also key suspects in the Bali blasts.
